One of the great technology rivalries that have emerged over the last 6- 10 years has been the one between Apple and Samsung for the hearts and minds of the smartphone, smartwatch, and earbud consumers. Apple started the smartphone revolution in 2007 but Samsung, using their version of Android, joined the smartphone race shortly after and has made serious inroads into this lucrative mid to high-end field of hand-held computers. Soon after Apple introduced the Apple Watch and AirPods, Samsung doubled down on innovating around these devices too, and many now consider them an equal competitor to Apple on all of these above-mentioned products.
Apple’s big announcements are products that have been on Android for over 2 years now Way to stay

As a serious Apple watcher over the last 40 years who has observed many companies trying to compete with Apple and fail, Samsung has both the technical prowess and deep pockets that most of the others did not enjoy. Indeed, Samsung is a worldwide industrial and consumer products company whose mobile division has become one of its greatest success stories and cash cows.
One other clear thing is that Samsung has also become much better at marketing its products. Before 2017, I considered Samsung's marketing of their devices anemic at best. However, over the last three-four years, Samsung's marketing of their devices has become world-class. Apple still outspends Samsung by a high margin in marketing, but the quality and creativity in Samsung's marketing campaigns for their new products have been exceptional.
A technology journalist for over twenty years, I have observed and written about how the world has evolved from analogue to digital. I have written, in print and online, for consumer and B2B tech publications such as TrustedReviews, Wired, Expert Reviews, Den of Geek, Home Cinema Choice, IT Pro, IT Pro Portal and Expert Reviews, and been the voice of consumer tech for publications such as The Sunday Times and the Jewish Chronicle. I have also appeared on BBC World Business News and BBC Radio Five Live.
Being among the top giants in the field of smart devices, Apple and Samsung have made their mark on the world with their innovative gadgets and new technology. Apple has cultivated a culture surrounding its product releases as fanatics have come to anticipate annual announcements. It is no surprise to see that they have a large market dedicated to purchasing their products and updating them along the way.
I have never solidly stay on apple, I will always go back to Android since you can get a Samsung then a Google Pixel, or any google device and still have your data with the Play store app. Also today Samsung has wrecked apple with a 1 tb Samsung s 10+(even though it is around 1600 america dollars sadly) and a fold touch screen phone that has made apple wonder how in the world how did you do that. Samsung for life!!!
i would not listen to this person android are so filled with bloatware and spyware that it drains you battery life it also slws the phone down to the point it can freeze easily I had android phones since they fist came out and they suck if you want to spend hundreds of dollars constantly replacing you battery be my guest my iphone has been great i have Iphone 10 now and it lasted me forever never had to replace the battery due to them having zero bloatware which does not drain my battery life. Yes it may be delicate and very expensive but way bettter then those poorly made androids. As tempting as their cheep phones are i am not going to buy any of them sorry android lovers but your phones are crap and this is my opinion.
I do not hate Apple or think they have bad products, but I do think they are over priced and most the people commenting against android are spoiled 12 year olds who have their parents buy their phones, or they bought an apple phone because it was more popular INSTEAD of going out and searching all the phones and comparing how good they were, because if you do tha, I can garauntee that you will end up with an android as the best one. Apple is very good, and that is why it is popular, but if you search harder and compare then you can find an even better android.
I agree I have many phone a two iPhone cause one broke so only one now but I have androids to and I have more androids over apple why bigger more choices and bigger selections on cases and phone layout I totally agree battery life is equal but I love all my devices but android most likely is the best cause there just more choices
I agree with your points, but I really dont think either one is inherently better than the other. I have personally had both and switched back and forth constantly. I find that android, while the customization options are SOOO much better and widgets are amazing, i find that if you dwell into the settings everything gets very cluttered if you arent a 100% techie and Google tries to shove all of its software down your throat and I end up having to turn of every google now software feature and disable all of the google apps except the play store. I find that apple has the much better app store and its an overall very simple experience. I love the big screen of most android phones and how cheap you can get some big screened phones, but as someone who wants a simple streamlined experience, im going to stick with apple, for now.
Very good article outlining differences between apple and Android. I myself have been a long time iPhone user, but I recently switched to a Samsung s7 and will never go back. The only problem I have with this article is that it says the Samsung s7 has an IR blaster as a feature, which it does not have. Sad because I thought this would be handy if I lose the remote and want to use my TV without tearing through the living room looking for it.
Apple countered that it had already produced some 10 million documents during the discovery process, versus Epic's 5 million. Furthermore, it claimed some of the information requested by Epic could have been produced as part of the existing document haul, and that Epic was still holding out on some information.
The reason Epic can make so much money, is that Apple, Google, Microsoft and Sony have put a lot of R&D and marketing into iOS, Android, Xbox and Playstation. If Epic wants to sell direct to the consumer, they should make their own hardware. They want to leech off Apple and Google, but are willing to pay 30% to Microsoft and Sony (for now). The shoplifting analogy that Apple uses isn't very good. It is more like Epic setting up shop and selling things inside an Apple Store without paying any rent; Epic cries in the store that they made the products they are selling not Apple, so Apple should let them stay there for free.
My left ear bud in the power beats pro wouldnt pair to my iPhone, Ive tried all the steps imaginable. This problem happen to me twice in the past year! Now the apple advisor is telling me my power beats pro are out of warranty , the replacement would be chargeable for $108.90, no thanks! I would rather spend that money on new air pods that do not have any issues connecting, besides the battery life decreasing overtime.
Without major new management and/or direction, Apple is over in a decade. It's on a slow death now, and has been for years. Forget where they've already been, you have to look at where they'll be next. They're a global consumer products company that in five years has gone from being the world's greatest market builders to a rickety dog-n-pony show doing the same old tricks they were doing ten years ago, and not understanding why no-one's just that impressed any more. Watch Tim Cook standing on stage shilling C++ now with rubberized corners to schoolkids; it's excruciating to watch. Flogging whatever products you currently possess to whoever you think will buy them is what asshole flim-flam artists and incompetents do. A master salesman like Jobs knew how to sell exactly right: first you design the *market* you want, *then* you design your product to fit that market, and then you sell shit out of it, and use that revenue to start designing your next market, and so on. Repeat indefinitely. Never get precious, never stop advancing, cos soon as you do your competitors will catch you up, and flatten you under mass commoditization.
As to the rest, I do agree with the gist of what Michael is getting at. I wouldn't want to be an Apple shareholder these days, because I just don't get the foundation for what their business is going to be in a few years. Brand satisfaction and brand image surveys show the company falling significantly over the past couple of years. And without that, what exactly do they have?
I'm not convinced that it falls in ways that matter, though. I mean, maybe it does. But I think most people who buy Apple's products nowadays don't buy them because they're looking for easy-to-use, high quality goods. People didn't care about Nike's child slaves, they don't care about Apple's quality issues, and they don't care about VW's scandals, either. VW's world-wide sales actually rose in 2016. Only the US and Canada markets were hit, and they weren't hit nearly as badly as they should have been, given VW's despicable behavior.
Additionally, carriers have changed the terms of subsidies that helped consumers finance phones, which is causing some consumers to consider if the Apple product is worth the premium price. Meanwhile, in the developing world where there's more demand growth for smartphones, Apple must now take on Asian companies making handsets that have lower price tags and are usually running Alphabet's Android operating system. Apple has been slow to innovate and newer products like Apple Pay and Apple Music have fallen flat and demand for other product lines including tablets has been shrinking. 2ff7e9595c
